LAUNCH52tv #20 – Nicolas Roquefort-Villeneuve
Choosing With No Agenda

Last week, I had the opportunity to interview Jennifer Curtet – half of the dynamic duo who is starting Life Lift Radio. Today, I spoke with her French co-host named Nicolas Roquefort-Villeneuve. After he and his wife met a woman at a bar and had her spontaneously ask them what they would charge for one hour of relationship advice, they began to seriously consider a change of life. Eight years ago, Nicolas left behind the corporate world and his six-figure paycheck, stock options, loads of stress, and a two-pack-a-day habit.

In this interview, you’ll hear Nicolas’ take on…

  • How he and his wife started their coaching careers.
  • A new way of making choices without an agenda.
  • Why sex isn’t the barometer of a relationship.
  • The negative repercussions of judging ourselves.
  • Why a Southern accent is truly sexy.

Go ahead…I dare ya…click play and find out!

3 Things I Learned From My Kids About ASKING

There’s something powerful about the simple act of asking. Although most of us unlearn how to ask as we get older and more ‘mature’, there are three things that my kids have taught me about asking…

  1. Be clear about what I want.
Granted, my kids may want a lot of things, but there is no question that they truly want it. Whether it’s food at a restaurant or a toy at the store or a movie they want to see…they are very clear about their desires. If I want help from someone, I first must get clear about what I want. Otherwise, they’ll never be able to help me. What do you want from your spouse, business partner, boss, co-worker, kids, or even yourself?
    .
  2. Make a strong case for what I want.
My kids don’t just beg for what they want by saying ‘please’ over and over again. No, they understand that they have to give me solid reasons that require evidence. I’m not moved by begging, whining, or pleading. I need a strong case. How about you? When you ask for something, do you have strong reasoning behind your desires? Have you really thought through the request before you make the ‘ask’?
    .
  3. Expect the other person to say ‘yes.’
My kids are shocked every time I say ‘no.’ They have such a strong belief in what they’re asking for and they have such great passion in the case they’ve presented. In their minds, “How could Dad turn us down?” Do you have that much positive expectation when you’re seeking assistance from someone?

Whether you’re asking for a raise or just trying to get the salesperson to allow you to return a pair of worn shoes, here are a few REASONS WHY PEOPLE are telling you ‘NO!’

  • You aren’t passionate about what you want.
  • You ask with a sense of entitlement.
  • You’ve said ‘no’ to that person without ever saying ‘yes.’
  • You don’t make the person feel excited to say ‘yes’ to you.
  • You haven’t asked the person to believe in you and your idea.
  • You don’t have a strong track record of following through.

How has your ‘asking’ been going lately?
Do you have anything on your mind or heart that’s worth asking for?

LAUNCH52tv #18 – Brother Echo Roberson
Juicin’ It Up With Living Foods!

On Saturday night, my family and I enjoyed a scrumptious KFC dinner with some friends, but the two chicken breasts, wing, mashed potatoes, macaroni and cheese, cookies, and rice crispy squares were a little much. I woke up the next morning around 5:45am with what I call “meat stomach”…that bloated, heavy feeling I get that’s accompanied by whole-body hotness that’s not exactly the kind of ‘hotness’ that I’m shooting for.

I grabbed a blanket and headed out to the living room to watch Jimmy Fallon from Friday night and surf through the nonsense of Facebook. One of my friends (who isn’t really a friend…you have tons of those right?) linked over to a video by this guy named “Brother Echo.” He was juicing veggies and supposedly loving it.

It turns out that Brother Echo Roberson has been on quite a journey in his lifetime. From battling drugs and alcohol to relaunching his health through living foods and juicing. Through www.rawsangha.com, he utilizes video to spread the word about eating healthy and raising the level of consciousness about a sustainable lifestyle.

In the midst of my meat-stomach-stupor, I started researching juicing and the much-needed juicer that’s involved. By Monday morning, I ordered a Breville Compact Juice Fountain, and I shot a quick email over to Brother Echo to connect. The video below contains a juicy conversation (sorry, I couldn’t help myself) about living foods, saving the Earth, and how I almost threw up from downing 24 ounces of what I have come to call a “Satanic Juice Cocktail.” Whether you’re into living a healthy lifestyle or not, this is worth watching…if only just to get a laugh out of my craziness!
